FAQs and Helpful Information

What are the health benefits of a good night's sleep?
All of the properties of a latex or memory foam mattress work together to give you a more restful night's sleep. With better sleep comes numerous health benefits including less fatigue, less insomnia, better breathing patterns while asleep, and less back pain. Bad sleep is often linked to narcolepsy, obesity, and irritableness. Don't let that happen to you! Switch to a memory foam or latex foam mattress.

What will my sleeping experience will be like on these mattresses?

A latex or memory foam mattress creates a sleeping experience where you are cradled in both comfort and luxury, which can provide you with the utmost support. Our tickings are soft and comfortable and our foundations are sturdy and supportive. Our innerspring mattresses are made with pocket coils that prevent motion transfer between partners for uninterrupted sleep.

Will your mattresses support my back and spine?

A latex foam and memory foam mattress can support each part of the body evenly and individually. This can allow the spine to stay in a neutral position. By individually supporting each part of the body, memory foam or latex foam can help reduce pressure points and help eliminate tossing and turning. Innerspring mattresses are made of independently wrapped coils that support every inch of the body, distributing your weight evenly over the mattress, ensuring total comfort.

Which mattress is best for my sleep position?

Whether you enjoy sleeping on your back, stomach, or side, a latex foam or memory foam mattress is right for you. Latex foam and memory foam are designed to mold and cradle every part of your body evenly which can allow you to get in your most comfortable position.

What Mattresses does Classic Brands manufacturer?

Classic Brands manufacturers memory foam, gel memory foam, innerspring, latex, and hybrid mattresses which are comprised of memory foam or gel memory foam and innerspring coils combined.  We also manufacturer futon mattress, sleep sofa mattresses, bed frames and foundations, adjustable bed bases, upholstered beds and headboards, pillows, mattress toppers, and mattress protectors.

What is the difference between a memory foam mattress and a latex foam mattress?

Memory foam is made from polyurethane while latex foam is made from the sap of a rubber tree, collected and processed differently to be made into Talalay or Dunlop latex.

What is the difference between memory foam mattress and a gel-memory foam mattress?

Gel Memory Foam is a unique material that infuses gel particles into memory foam, creating a plusher and cooler sleeping material. Gel memory foam is more porous or open than conventional foam meaning the cells are interconnected unlike closed cell foam; thereby is more breathable and comfortable than higher density memory foam. The open-celled physical structure of our foams is self-ventilating. Air travels throughout the material and dissipates body heat regulating your body temperature. Gel Memory foam is naturally antimicrobial and resistant to allergens, mold, bacteria and dust mites.

What’s the difference between a Gel-infused foam and a layer of gel?

A memory foam mattress that has infused gel means gel has been infused in the foam itself to keep the mattress cooler.  A gel layer is just of a layer of gel by itself.  Typically gel layers are used more in pillows than mattresses.

Are your mattresses hypo-allergenic?

A latex or memory foam mattress is great for allergy sufferers. Latex and memory foam are allergy free and hypoallergenic. Latex is a 100% natural material.

Are your mattresses dust mite resistant?

Beds and mattresses are a prime habitat for dust mites that cause allergies. A typical innerspring mattress may have anywhere from 100,000 to 10 million dust mites inside of it! A latex and memory foam mattress is naturally resistant and dust mites find it hard to create a habitat for them to survive. In fact, dust mites cannot feed at all on latex so they will never invade a latex bed.

Should I buy a hybrid, memory foam or a latex mattress?

At the end of the day, it’s about your personal comfort.  The hybrid mattress combines the traditional support of innerspring coils with the conforming support of memory foam or gel memory foam.  A memory foam mattress will not have the bounce of a traditional innerspring.  Latex mattress are combined with latex and foam not only to support but have a softer feel for the pressure points on the body.

Can you tell me how many coils there are in your Hybrid mattresses?

It depends on the mattress size and the mattress height.  There could be as low as 450 coils in a twin mattress and up to as much as 960 on a king mattress.  A high coil count does not necessarily translate into a better-quality mattress, instead, the design and the gauge of the wire used is more of a factor for support, comfort, and durability.

Can you tell me what the coil gauge of your innerspring mattresses?

It varies by mattress, but typically it is 13-gauge steel.  We do our best to let all of our retailers know the coil gauge by mattress, but if you need additional information about the specifications, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What is the difference between an innerspring coil and a wrapped coil?

Individually wrapped coils move independently and encased in separate pockets so they can contour precisely to your body and provide consistent distribution of support throughout the mattress and lessens motion transfer and disturbance for sleep partners.  An innerspring coil that is not wrapped typically is separated by a layer of poly foam or sometimes memory foam, so the person does not feel the coils.  Most of Classic Brands innerspring and hybrid mattresses have wrapped coils.

Why are your mattresses compressed?

The mattresses manufactured by Classic Brands are machine rolled, compressed, and packed so that they can be shipped directly to your door or a nearby retailer.  The roll packed mattress is easy to transport from a nearby store and easily fit through doorways, narrow hallways, or stairwells.

Does weather affect the feel of the mattress?

It may be possible that when the weather is cold at the time of your delivery, your mattress may take a bit longer to decompress and return to the original size from the compressed state.  Other than that, the weather will not affect the feel of the mattress.

How long does it take for a mattress to decompress?

Please allow 24 to 72 hours for your mattress to regain its full shape.  It has been machine rolled and compressed for efficient delivery and will not affect its performance.

Can I sleep on the mattress if it is not fully decompressed?

We recommend that you should allow 24 to 72 hours for your mattress to regain its original shape.  Depending on the height of the mattress, that time may vary.  If the mattress is at full height, then it is ready to be used.

Do the mattresses have an odor?

Memory foam mattresses typically have a mild residual scent i.e., new car smell, distinct to the product when new.  This is sometimes heightened when delivered during cold weather.

Some consumers are sensitive to odor, any odor, and while we understand it might be irritating to some, it is no way harmful or unhealthy.  It will quickly dissipate as the mattress is used daily, allowing the open cells to expel the “processing” air and take in the new air.

Our memory foam and gel memory foam mattress meet CertiPUR-US program standards for performance, emissions, and durability.

What do I do if my mattress has an odor?

Leave the mattress uncovered during the first few days, allowing the air in your home to circulate around the product. Turn on fans and open windows to circulate the air in the room so the mattress odor can dissipate quickly.

How many days do I get to try out the mattress?

That is established by the company from which you purchased your mattress.  Classic Brands does not oversee the retailer policies.  The retailers also establish their pricing, exchange, and return policies.

Will I ever need to flip my mattress?

Foam mattresses do not sag like most innerspring mattresses and therefore do not require flipping or rotating. Having to flip over a large mattress puts more strain on you and your back. Every part of a latex or memory foam mattress is designed with you, the consumer, in mind.

How do I clean my mattress?

We highly recommend that a mattress protector should be used to protect your mattress against spills or other stains.  Should you spill something on your mattress, blot the stain immediately.  If the spill is large and the mattress deeply soaked, blot the excess moisture using terry towels and pressure until the area is no longer drenched. Never use chlorine bleach or other harsh chemicals to clean the mattress or cover.

For spot cleaning, only use a water-based cleaning product. And never deeply drench the mattress when spot cleaning.

How do I clean my mattress cover?

Your zippered, removable cover is easily removed and washable. Wash your cover using cool water and a mild detergent. Dry your cover using the lowest possible heat setting and do not dry to excess. Remove when barely dry and air hang to completion. AVOID chlorine bleach or harsh chemicals or stain removers as they will damage your cover.

Can I use an electric blanket or electric pad with my mattress?

We DO NOT recommend the use of an electric blanket or electric pad with this mattress. Prolonged usage of an electric blanket or pad, at high heat may damage the mattress and impact its ability to reduce pressure and stress properly.

Why can’t I remove the mattress law tag?

The mattress law tag label serves as a means of identification should you have a warranty claim.  The warranty is void if the mattress law tag is removed.

Do I need standard or deep pocket sheets for your mattresses?

If the mattress is between 6-inches and 14-inches, standard sheets will fit all Classic Brands mattresses.  Some people do prefer deep pocket sheets, just be sure to check the sheet packaging for recommended sizes.

Do I need to purchase a mattress protector for my mattress?

Buying a mattress is an investment and you may want to add a mattress protector to protect your investment and keep it fresh and clean.  Mattress protectors defend against spills, bodily fluid, dust mites, allergens and more.  So not only does it preserve your mattress, it may even extend the life of your mattress.  Also, most mattress warranties may be voided without using the mattress pad.

What should I place my new mattress on?

We recommend placing your mattress on a good quality foundation with a firm surface.  Also, any foundation or frame that has an additional center support is recommended for queen size and up.  Also, you can place your mattress on a heavy-duty metal bed frame, or for optimum support with added ergonomic benefits, we recommend an adjustable bed base.
